As you're looking for a promotion strategy in the New Year to gain more sales & visibility remember that no matter your strategy, you must consider your customer’s wants and needs while maintaining your unique flair. New year, same business. That doesn’t mean it’s gotta be the same-old, same-old. It’s the perfect time to grow & start attracting those new clients. All you need is a revamped promotional plan to get yourself out there. Here is a comprehensive list of marketing & promotional ideas for coaches in 2024.
Don’t know where to start?
Mama, you know I’ve got TONS of ideas for how you can create a fool-proof plan to promote your 1:1 coaching programs. Consider these golden business truth nuggets as an early Christmas present from me to you!
Here are Marketing Ideas & Promotions to add into your 2025 Strategy:
1. Hold a masterclass
Now is the time to launch that INCREDIBLE masterclass you’ve been developing for the past year. I know that little training feels like the baby you’re scared to let out into the big, bad world, but it’s time to let that birdie fly!
At the beginning of the New Year, your clients are making resolutions to dig into their businesses & finally make that shit work. They’re looking for programs that can help them make big changes and a masterclass that is specifically targeting a large problem they are having is just what they are craving. A masterclass is also the perfect way to filter potential clients to your 1:1 or group coaching services. Make sure to offer deals and promote the hell out of your coaching services so they know straight where to go when the masterclass wraps up.
Be sure to record this class so that if you decide to send replays and/or put this on evergreen later (free or paid), it is ready to go!
2. Offer Free trainings on your Facebook Instagram Pages & Your FB Groups
Another marketing idea that will never get old is providing a training on your expertise. Offering simple training sessions that give potential clients an idea of the value you’ve got to offer and how they can work with you will help grow your brand visibility and the Know, Like Trust Factor.
Think breadcrumbs + Value!
Maybe your clients are dying to understand the art of brand messaging, health and nutrition tips to reduce weight gain, how to reverse engineer pain points, drive their spiritual growth or determine how to get into the right money mindset for financial growth. Now you don’t want to give away all of your secrets for free, but offering a quick, well-rounded guide, video, or interactive training can be a great way to attract people to your programs.
Purposeful Trainings: Make sure it serves you too!
Make sure you choose a topic that is useful to your audience, but that also serves you. You may even want to do market research to see what your clients are interested in. Make sure that this lead magnet aligns with your core content pillars, your overall promotional calendar, and your larger programs.
Remember, this isn’t just a free gift you’re dropping in your Facebook group and forgetting about. The freebie is meant to serve as a lead magnet, a product or service that helps nurture your client and filter them towards some of your larger, paid programs.
The reason you can afford to give this info out for free is because you’re confident it will attract more paid clients to your products. To do this, you want to make sure there’s a clear call to action at the end of the training & that the info ties back to the program you want to promote.
Also consider adding in breadcrumbs throughout your training so those who don’t stay till the end have an idea of what you sell and how you can help them.
That way your audience gets a little taste of all the incredible resources you have to offer and you get more eyeballs looking at your business and your services. Don’t be afraid of lead magnets, trainings and freebies! Just make sure they’re working as hard as you are to promote your products.
3. Offer trainings in other people’s Facebook Groups or IG lives
Don’t limit yourself to doing training in your own backyard. You’ve got some great ideas and advice to share. Presenting on other people’s platforms is a great way to broaden your exposure to potential clients and extend your reach.
Lean into other business owners with thriving Facebook groups and online communities to see if they’d be willing to host your training session in their Facebook or on their IG live.
Like you, other business owners are always looking for opportunities to show their clients that they are totally in tune with their needs. So, bringing in a smart woman like yourself to talk about business is a great way for other business owners to show their people that they care and build a great repertoire with their community.
Of course, this is also an awesome opportunity for you to get more exposure in new circles. Putting yourself in front of new potential clients and showing them you know how to make their lives better/easier is a fool-proof way to get tons of interest in your products & services.
Oftentimes, it’s best to offer to host that business owner on your own social channels as well, so that both parties feel as though the deal is worth it. Collaboration over competition.
This is also an awesome way to make friends and find like-minded peers in your business community! I’ve made some great connections by just having the courage to bring partnership proposals and affiliate partnerships to other badass women in my field.
So, don’t be afraid to reach out to other business owners with proposals! You might just make a friend or two...
4. Hold a free 3 or 5 day Challenge
A lot of your potential clients are constantly looking for something to motivate them to improve their life or business.
What better way than through a little healthy competition?
Creating an challenge can be the perfect way to get your audience excited to work on their business and/or life challenges. Giving people a goal to work towards (and maybe even a prize if they complete the challenge and share it with others on their social platforms) is an awesome strategy for motivating people into finally growing and developing their business.
You can email out workbooks, PDF’s, hold Zoom meetings to talk over their progress or you can launch the challenge on your Facebook page.
If you don’t already have a Facebook group this is a great way to start one! Building a space where your audience can work together and have increased accountability during the challenge can help you build an online community long after your competition ends.
You can then do one of two things with your Facebook group:
- Keep it ongoing and continue to build a community after the competition
OR
- Close the group after a period of time to create a sense of urgency
If your goal is to build an open community, you’ll probably want to keep the Facebook group open to everyone.
If you want to make it more exclusive and attract members to the community by offering special benefits, closing the group after a short period of time is the way to go.
5. Do a giveaway / Collaboration with a non-competitive Instagram friend
This one is really great because it combines two things that people love: free stuff and winning. Giving your clients a chance to win something while simultaneously introducing them to your products is a total win-win.
You can either do a straightforward giveaway with a simple mode of entry -- like following you on Instagram, tagging a friend, and commenting -- or you can make it into a collaboration with a fellow business owner.
Collabs are awesome because they benefit everyone involved. They can help you strengthen your relationship with your business friends, introduce your clients to other resources they can use to improve their lives and businesses, and provide a great opportunity to attract new clients.
How to Create a Collab
The first thing you want to do for a giveaway collab is find someone to team up with. Think of another business owner you know through mastermind groups, social media, or that you’re close with in real life.
You want to make sure that you’re teaming up with a non-competitive person, so sure that your programs and offerings and theirs won’t be competing for clients. Someone who is in a peripheral business can often be great.
For example, if you’re a business coach, you could team up with a financial guru or a mindset magician who can speak to your clients’ needs but not take away from your offerings.
Once you’ve found your partner, you want to make sure you’re on the same page about what you’ll be giving away and what your call-to-action will be. Have a meeting prior and talk through the logistics of your marketing promotion.
Make sure the item or service you’re giving away is a no-brainer where people will go, “HELL YEAH, how do I enter?!” Electronics like airpods or a smart-watch are always a great choice, as are gift cards for popular spots like Starbucks or Target.
You also want to brainstorm a call-to-action that’s going to benefit both you and your collaborator. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Requiring participants to follow both you and your partner can be a great way to make sure both of you are getting equal engagement from your audience. Doing a follow entry method also allows viewers from both camps -- your audience and your collaborator’s audience -- to be exposed to new content that can help better their lives and businesses.
- Make sure they like your post
- Ask them to tag a friend or someone who may benefit in the comments
- Another super effective call-to-action is having your entrants comment
All of these are great ways to bring more eyeballs to your page and bring new clients onto your radar. You can use those tags to build a new list of potential clients to reach out to. Even just a few new names can make the whole giveaway worth it.
The last thing you want to remember is to make that sh*t fun! People should be HYPED to hear if they are picked for the prize. Make sure you and your collaborator are talking the giveaway up on all your socials to make sure everyone is excited to get in on the action.
6. Create a referral program
One of the best ways to promote your products is to get other people to do it for you. By setting up a rewards based referral program, you can have your clients spread the word about your products & services for you, and you don’t even have to lift a finger!
A rewards based referral program means that your audience gets rewarded when they refer a paying customer to your products. The reward part is super important because that’s what the people are doing it for.
So, what should my reward be?
Discounts
Discounts are awesome referral motivators. Offering a certain percentage or discount off of a program or service is usually a great reward, because it helps make your programs more accessible and can attract people who might not otherwise enroll in the program or service.
Scalable Reward
You can also do a scalable reward, offering more rewards to those people who get more friends to buy your products. If they bring in 5 people, they get 20% off, if they bring in 10 people they get 30%, etc. This can be an awesome way to encourage people to spread the news to their friends and tell them to buy your product. Just make sure that the profit you’re making from the 5, 10, or 20 new sales is greater than the loss of the 20%, 30%, or 40% from the other sale.
Kick-back
Of course, you can always offer a kick-back as well. This can range anywhere from 5% to 50% if they close a sale for you depending on how hard they work and how turn-key it is for you.
The easier the referral is and the more rewards you offer, the more people are going to tell their friends and their friend’s friends about your products & services and encourage them to buy.
7. Outreach to Existing Clients
The New Year is a great time to start attracting new clients, but it’s also important that you don’t lose sight of the people who helped you get where you are: your current clients.
Just because someone hasn’t bought from you in a while doesn’t mean they’re not interested. Maybe they just got super busy, had other priorities or have been meaning to get back to you, and haven't been able to.
It is 10X easier to retain and get an existing client to spend more money with you than it is to find a new client.
Email Campaign
Creating an email campaign geared towards your past or future clients is a great way to do promo for new products & services.
Sending emails to your past clients to check-in and remind them of the new services your offering is a way to show them that you care and are still invested in their success.
Some of them will ignore your email and that’s okay. Others are going to be super excited to jump back into the experience of using your products & services. You never know how people are going to react to your messages unless you send them!
8. Start a Text Program
Text or SMS programs are where you are able to create a list, similar to your email list where you can consistently touch base with your audience. These are extremely effective and can lead to greater engagement with your brand and lead into more sales.
Goals of a Text Program:
- Inspirational texts
- Value-driven tips and recommendations
- Promotional deals and updates
- Reminders
- Encouragement
- Accountability
Because text messages go direct to the phone, the open rate is extremely high. This is a space where you want to be sure that you are not spamming this audience with promo only content. This is a high-value only space where you need to ensure that the audience has at a minimum a 60% if not 75%(preferred) value versus promotion.
Also text programs have a high conversion rate and allow you to converse with a very engaged audience.
